Roses in the Ocean Lived Experience Summit Workshop Summary Report 2023

On Thursday 9th March, Roses in the Ocean provided the National Suicide Prevention Office with the opportunity to conduct a workshop with the 2023 Lived Experience Summit participants to inform the National Suicide Prevention Strategy.

The NSPO utilised the opportunity to explore one of the enablers of the Strategy – embedding lived and living experience of suicide into decision-making and leadership structures for suicide prevention. It is well established that the voices of lived and living experience are critical to achieving lasting reform. Those who have accessed the system or experienced challenges in accessing supports know best what needs to happen to ensure improvements are made. The NSPO received feedback on how governments and organisations can embed lived and living experience of suicide within leadership and decision-making structures to inform suicide prevention, and how the meaningful involvement of people with lived and living experience of suicide can best be demonstrated.

We are extremely grateful to all who participated in the workshop. We thank you for your generosity of spirit and for being willing to share your wisdom to assist with systems reform and the improvement of experience and outcomes in suicide prevention.
