Why talk to us?

Your feedback will help inform the decisions we make and guide the direction of mental health reform in Australia.

We are committed to working with you to understand your needs  and to explore best fit solutions.

We need to work together to develop solutions to the challenges we all face.

By talking to us you can help us understand how decisions, projects and proposals affect you.

We understand that people live busy lives and have many different competing priorities. We want to provide a range of opportunities for you to share your views and help us make decisions about things that affect you.

Have Your Say is the Commission's engagement website where you can share your ideas and provide feedback on issues and projects that matter to you at a time that suits you.

Take the Quick Poll and tell us how you like to share your views and ideas.

Is Have Your Say replacing face to face and other engagement methods?

No, Have Your Say  is all about adding voices to the mix and gathering as many thoughts and opinions as possible. We will continue to talk to you through more traditional methods of community engagement such as community meetings, workshops and forums.

Here are five (5) benefits of online engagement

    1. Online engagement is a quick, safe and convenient way to have your say on a range of issues and topics
    2. It is a great way to keep up to date and contribute your views on issues affecting your community
    3. You can see what other community members think about an issue or topic, and then respond with your own views
    4. You don't have to attend community meetings at a set place and time because you can contribute at a time and place that suits you
    5. It allows for a range of different people, with different views to discuss matters that impact on their community

Why do we require registration to contribute to projects?

By registering on Have Your Say you have a direct line to the Commission to make sure that your views on issues and matters are heard.

Here are six (6) reasons why we ask you to register.

    1. Our challenge is to understand the range of perspectives in our diverse community of stakeholders. By registering and telling us a bit about yourself you help us understand our stakeholders better.
    2. Registering on Have Your Say is quick and simple with a few important questions that help us understand who is participating.  By registering, we know that you are a real person with genuine responses and opinions. This promotes accountability and helps us flag if someone is leaving multiple comments to support their own position.
    3. We will ask for a username OR SCREEN NAME, an email contact, what State or Territory you are from and a couple of questions about your industry. You must answer these questions.
    4. Ever get tired of filling out your details every time you do a survey? When you register, your details will be stored. Next time you just log on and away you go, making it quicker and easier than ever to fill out the survey.
    5. By registering we can also keep you updated on important project news, upcoming opportunities and how you can find more information on a range of issues and topics.
    6. Most importantly we can let you know the outcomes of the project you have been interested in and how stakeholder comments have contributed to decision making and project outcomes.

Please note that your personal details remain private (please see our privacy frequently asked question).

    What is my screen name?

Your screen name will appear with your comments in some of the tools that we use. When you register you can still comment anonymously by using a screen name that does not identify you. All other information provided to us is kept confidential and only used under the Terms and Conditions

    What happens to my feedback?

Your feedback is collated along with other comments, ideas and suggestions and is used to inform The Commission's decisions. It will be used to develop various strategies, projects and programs. By participating you will help provide valuable insights into stakeholder views and opinions around different issues. This does not mean that every suggestion will be incorporated every time, but it will help us weigh up different options.

Online data is used alongside feedback collected through face to face consultation activities such as workshops, stakeholder group meetings, Community Yarns and pop up events.

How is Have Your Say moderated?

All moderation is carried out by our service provider Bang the Table and is independent to the Commission.
