National Suicide Prevention Strategy Working Groups: Expression of Interest

The National Suicide Prevention Office (NSPO) is calling for expressions of interest to join the National Suicide Prevention Strategy Working Groups (the Working Groups).

Members of the Working Groups will assist the NSPO in the development of the National Suicide Prevention Strategy (the Strategy) by providing subject matter expertise and advice.

Two Working Groups will be established – the Governance and Social Determinants Working Group as well as the Service Systems Working group.

Role of the National Strategy Working Groups

Members of the Working Groups will work closely with the NSPO to identify the objectives, actions and indicators of change that align with specific areas of focus within the Strategy, as well as reviewing and giving input to drafts of the Strategy.

The NSPO will appoint up to 10 members to each Working Group. It is anticipated that each Working Group will meet monthly.

The NSPO seeks expertise from government, service provider, academic, and lived experience of suicide perspectives.

The NSPO works within the National Mental Health Commission’s Paid Participation Policy which offers reimbursement for participation in the Working Groups if it is not being provided by a member’s employer. Details of the policy can be found here.

Lived experience candidates are encouraged to review the readiness to be involved in suicide prevention resource created by Roses in the Ocean.
